CTTSO and AFSOC  Select Vertex Solutions to Create Next-Generation Extended Reality Combat Mission Training

Vertex Solutions, a leading developer of advanced extended reality (XR) training systems, was awarded the AC-130J VR Combat Mission Trainer (vrCMT) contract to create multi-crew combat mission training for USAF Special Operations aviators.

This program, awarded under a CTTSO BAA, will enable training for all AC-J stations in a networked, collaborative, fully immersive environment. Never before have the AC-J’s pilots, copilots, weapon system operators, combat systems operators, sensor operators, and special mission aviators been able to train on the ground in the same simulation. What’s more, the crew can be dispersed, accessing the training simulation from any location around the world.

This vrCMT builds off previous XR AC-130 crew training Vertex developed for AFSOC under CTTSO and AFWERX contracts. (This earlier AC-130 training system was a finalist for the 2019 MS&T Outstanding VR/AR/MR Application award.)
