Vertex Awarded Military Free-Fall Jumpmaster Simulator Contract

12 October 2021 (Niceville, FL) – Vertex Solutions was awarded a contract to develop an extended reality (XR) Military Free-Fall Jumpmaster Virtual Training System (MFF JM VTS) by the Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate (IWTSD) in support of USSOCOM end users. Vertex will develop a solution that will supplement real-world training with a highly realistic and low-cost XR capability.

Special Operations MFF operators require a high-fidelity XR simulated environment that enables training and rehearsal of the full scope of JM tactics, techniques, and procedures over virtual drop zones. Currently, units perform their training using either lower fidelity mock-ups or costly flight operations. USSOCOM end users have identified the need for a virtual training system for MFF JMs to decrease costs, overcome training challenges related to weather and aircraft availability, and increase training frequency and effectiveness. A portable, low-cost XR VTS, coupled with a portable and reconfigurable ramp-and-door mockup system, can supplement existing training venues and allow MFF JMs to safely and realistically rehearse JM duties.

“We are honored to help U.S. Special Operations Command increase its Military Free-Fall training capability and decrease training costs. In the past, we’ve developed training apps to help Special Operators complete their missions on the ground, in the AO. It’s exciting to now also provide training that helps them get to those AOs safely.”
